POT LUCK / SCREENPLAY RUSSELL FRIEDENBERG

Hollywood. 2008. No country for low art.
But it is high times for pot dealers. Banished to his day job of dealing marijuana, wanna-be writer NORMAN DIGBY DIETZ runs the Rosa Rita pipeline – and runs it well. Norman’s meteoric rise as a pot dealer has led him to a partnership with the legendary HENRI LANGENSCHWEIGER, the Heidi Fleiss of ganja and his very personal assistant MITZI SLIVITZ, the Anne Coulter of botany. Ready to expand his ‘Hempire’, Henri invites Norman to oversee a multi-million dollar pot growing operation.

GANG GREEN

With his best friend DUANE ‘GLUEY’ DEWEY and out of work medical marijuana grower, CALIFORNIA BIRNBAUM, this team of rejects heads north – To riches. To glory…To POTTER; a retirement community for Los Angeles Police nestled in the craggy earth of Central Idaho, where the soil is shit, the economy sucks and werewolf legends settle into the landscape like a low riding mist. But this sleepy hamlet has recently been discovered by VERSAILLES VILLAGE, a billion dollar ski resort that is gobbling up the land – lot by lot - including the one next to The Compound.

COMPOUND PROBLEMS

Locked in a claustrophobic cabin with nothing but time, marijuana induced paranoia, drought, flood, blight and nearby construction, the months creep by as the marijuana slowly reaches skyward.
Harassed by SHERIFF BRAD FOX, former American Gladiator and overzealous believer in local werewolf lore, Gang Green digs in. But its lonely in the cleavage of Mother Earth and on a single sortie to town Norman finds love in the form of MARY JANE, a too-good-to-be-true hippy, and befriends JOHNNY LOBO, a pot connoisseur and local activist who looks remarkably like a hairy, rabid dog.

HOUNDED

After Sheriff Fox’s prize poodle is brutally mutilated, Johnny Lobo becomes the focus of Fox’s werewolf obsession. But the plot thickens when Norman discovers that a Hollywood PR firm has been hired by Versailles Village to conjure up this werewolf myth and scare Potter’s land owners into a sell off – and Henri and Mitzi are in on it!

A GOOD TWIST

Is Gang Green just a beard for a nefarious land grab? Is Johnny Lobo an innocent landowner fighting the good fight against the forces of colonization, or is he really a pet snacking werewolf? And although Mary Jane shares Norman’s passion for literature and his growing contempt for the developers, why is she a real estate agent on weekends?

THE HEMPIRE STRIKES BACK

When the maturing pot plants are stricken with a mysterious fungi, morale falls apart. Cal quits twice. Dewey rediscovers his glue sniffing addiction and Norman, with nowhere to turn enlists Johnny Lobo to help salvage what’s left of the dream. When the marijuana field is set aflame and Henri abandons Gang Green they quickly realize that they’ve been set up. They have them by the short and curlies. Is there enough creativity left in Norman’s THC riddled mind to craft the teams’ revenge? Will they have POT LUCK?
